“Things happen, but it is your response that determines if the outcome will ultimately be positive or negative.” ~Unknown
Want to achieve your goals and create the meaningful life you desire? The answer is to live above the line! Ask yourself, am I taking responsibility for my life or do I take on the victim’s role?
The concept of above and below.
The concept of Above the line | Below the line is said to have come from Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. Visualize a piece of paper with a horizontal line separating it in half. The line signifies your choice. You have a choice in how you respond to an event. You play a role in creating the outcome. It can be positive or negative. Living above the line is open and positive. It is about taking 100% responsibility, seeking solutions and taking action. Living below the line is closed off and negative. It is about playing the victim’s role, blaming others, and making excuses.
Why it matters.
It is estimated that the average adult makes 35,000 conscious decisions each day. Add to that the various circumstances that we encounter, and you can easily see how important our mindset can be. Most of us are overwhelmed and on autopilot and are not aware of our power to choose our response. By choosing to live above the line we are choosing to be accountable for everything that happens in our life.

At first this is not an easy concept to accept. There are circumstances that are out of our control that negatively impact us, and bad things do happen. I am not denying that, and I have had my fair share of unpleasant events; from the loss of my daughter to divorce. The question is, how do we handle it? Does believing in this concept empower me? Does it improve my quality of life? Does it move me closer to the person I ultimately want to be? From my experience, I can emphatically say YES! At first, I needed to remind myself of the simple equation. I treated it like an affirmation. Now it has become part of my fiber.
Start living above the line today!

Live above the line and use it in a practical way so that it becomes engrained in your being. Share your story! We would love to hear how this simple shift in your mindset has changed your life!
